The Book Fair is an initiative organized by the City Council of adeje, through the Department of Education, whose responsibility is the acting councilor María Clavijo Maza. Prior to the appointment in the Plaza de España, activities related to the fair will take place in different parts of the municipality, which this year has sought to rescue the history of Amaro Snappera pirate of Tenerife origin who is known for his great skills as a merchant in the modern age.
The story of Pargo will be told to the students of the educational centers of the Adejero municipality, who will receive a talk about it at their facilities as an activity framed within the book fair.
The book fair itself will take place on the 21st and 22nd. The activities will begin in the morning when the school community visits the Plaza de España to enjoy the children’s show El tiempo lo cuenta todo, by Silvia Torrents and Óscar Tiraida. Next, the students of the IES Adeje and El Galeón will be able to know the adventures, legends and mysteries of pirates and corsairs in Canary Islandswhich will be reported by José Gregorio González and Fernando Hernández.
The opening to the public is scheduled for five in the afternoon on Friday the 21st. From then on you can enjoy multiple activities both in the Plaza de España, in the Adeje Auditorium or in the Convent. Given the number of planned activities, a specific program has been drawn up that is available for consultation on the municipal website.
The proposals are aimed at encouraging people to actively participate in the fair, hence the programming has options for adults such as the presentations of historical books or the dramatized route and wine tasting, or children’s activities such as the face painting workshopthe gang of the Phoenix bird or the dinosaur show.
As in previous years, the meeting of authors of foreign and native origin will take place. Pirates will be one of the axes of the Fair: from April 17 to 22 you can visit the exhibition Navigating Between the Seams at the Adeje Convent, an initiative that will show historical clothing from the 17th and 18th centuries. They can be seen from military uniforms, regency women, pirates and corsairs. The exhibition is in charge of the tailor Eusebio Muñoz Gutiérrez and the seamstress María del Carmen Ramírez.
