The fstrong wind blowing on the top of Tenerife forced to close the cable car Teide. As indicated by the facility itself through its social networks, this service will remain inactive throughout today as a result of adverse weather conditions.
The island is in yellow warning of risk due to coastal phenomena and intense wind since last Monday, when the State Meteorological Agency (aemet) predicted strong gusts in a good part of Canary Islands.
In the case of Tenerife, Meteorology augurs for today intensities that could reach 70 kilometers per houraffecting the southeast slope and midlands and high areas of the west slope.
In fact, so far today the Izaña station has recorded a gust of 69 kilometers per hour, although it is somewhat far from the maximum in the Canary Islands, located in La Gomera around two o’clock in the morning on Wednesday and that exceeded 100 kilometers per hour.
Tomorrow the wind is expected to continue in Tenerife as well as the southeast of Gran Canaria, with maximum gusts also of 70 kilometers per hour. The wind will be somewhat more intense in the rest of the western province, according to Aemet, which predicts a speed of up to 75 kilometers per hour.
