“Television” will be the theme of the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife 2024, which will be held between January 12 and February 18. This proposal emerged as the winner after the closing of the online voting period organized by the capital city council, through the Autonomous Organization for Festivals and Recreational Activities, OAFAR.

This issue accumulated a total of 2,313 votes, representing 31% of popular support over the other options. In second position, and with a support of 2,267 people, was “Japan”. For their part, “Classical Greece” and “Antarctica, the cold winter” registered 2,184 and 701 votes, respectively.

The Councilor for Fiestas, Alfonso Cabello, showed his “excitement at learning about the new theme of the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, thanking “the complicity and carnival commitment of all the people who voted for the 2024 theming”

According to Cabello “with this step, the engines of creativity of our festival of international tourist interest are started”; for an edition, of which the mayor points out that “it will have the organizational challenge of being practically overlapping with the Christmas and Epiphany festivities.”

Voting could be done online carnavaldetenerife.com from 9:00 a.m. last Monday, March 27, and remained in force until 11:59 p.m. yesterday, April 10.

To guarantee the correct result of the vote and avoid duplicate votes, the computer system applied a filter that validated only one vote per IP address. After applying this filter, a total of 7,465 valid accessions were computed.

The Carnival 2024 calendar will begin on January 12 with the traditional Presentation of the Candidates. The Children’s Queen will be announced on Sunday, January 28, and that of the adults, three days later, on Wednesday, January 31. The Carnival Queen Election Gala will be held on Wednesday, February 7; that will give rise to the development of the celebrations in the streets of the capital until February 18, Piñata Sunday.
