The Department of Social Welfare of the La Laguna City Council has opened the period to request aid for the elderly, vulnerable families with minors in their care and people with disabilities. These are three help lines that together exceed 400,000 euros and whose objective is to improve the quality of life of the residents of La Laguna with important social needs. The deadline for submitting applications will remain open until September 15 and the bases can be consulted on the notice board of the municipal website
As for the call for complementary aid aimed at families with dependent minors, it has an endowment of 140,000 euros and is intended to alleviate situations of basic need of a nutritional, educational and health nature for minors up to 16 years of age when families lack sufficient resources to meet these basic needs. Their purpose is to prevent, reduce or suppress factors that generate situations of difficulty or social risk in childhood, and complement other support actions,
In addition, the City Council reports in a statement that they can be paid directly to the beneficiary himself, or indirectly, when they are paid to the professional, provider, institution or center that provides the service or supply to which the aid is intended. To obtain it, other received benefits will not be taken into account, such as family benefits for dependent minors or those with a specific destination, such as educational, dining, transportation, technical aids or those related to the Dependency.
Applicants for this aid will have to prove that they do not have financial resources to meet the cost of the requested benefit, that is, that the per capita income of the family unit to which the applicant belongs is not higher than the Public Income Indicator. of Multiple Effects (IPREM) in force at that time and that the total sum of the income of the coexistence unit is not greater than 2 times the IPREM, as well as that they do not have more properties than the habitual residence.
People with disabilities
The annual call for individual financial aid for people with disabilities and their families has an item of 151,000 euros, to contribute to covering the needs in matters such as psychomotor rehabilitation treatments, language therapy or physiotherapy; specialized resources to improve autonomy, such as wheelchairs or vehicle adaptation; Temporary family respite accommodation, educational support services to achieve their professional and labor integration, as well as transportation expenses, specialized residence and dining room.
People with disabilities residing in the town and who lack sufficient financial resources can request, at the moment they need it, municipal aid that allows them to renovate or acquire special furniture and essential equipment for their well-being, as well as pay for the works to remove architectural barriers in your home.
This line of individual aid is aimed at addressing situations of need as a result of a disability that affects the person’s personal, social and economic autonomy. The amounts range from 70 euros per month for the cost of the dining room to 1,800 euros for the purchase of an electric chair.
Likewise, it is divided into two categories, which are basic and complementary. The first is intended to cover the cost of the rehabilitative care necessary to prevent developmental disorders, the resources and technical aids inherent to their disability and necessary to improve their autonomy, such as prostheses, consumables, dental and oral treatments, as well as temporary accommodation for Family Respite, the purchase or adaptation of seats and motor vehicles and the cost of educational support necessary for their training.
The complementary ones cover transportation costs from home to the center or institution that they usually go to receive specialized care, the cost of dining in these facilities and the residence service in those cases in which it is necessary.
Aid to Seniors
In the case of the elderly, La Laguna also offers a line of services for the acquisition or renewal of basic equipment, such as adjustable beds, anti-decubitus mattresses, cranes or certain electrical appliances, and to pay for the removal of architectural barriers in the home. which is open throughout the year so that those who lack sufficient financial resources can apply for help when they need it.
The access requirements for these two complementary lines are included in the Regulatory Bases of the Municipal Economic Benefits of the Social Welfare Area and include that the per capita income of the family unit does not exceed the Public Indicator of Multiple Effects Income (IPREM) in force, not be in possession of more properties than the habitual residence, as well as that the sum of the income of the family unit does not exceed 2.5 of the IPREM.
More than 20 help lines
The Social Welfare Area has more than 20 different lines of Municipal Economic Benefits (PEM) to deal with emergency situations or force majeure that can alter the socioeconomic stability of family units, with direct aid for families and people without sufficient resources, which include coverage of nutritional or medical needs, those linked to disability or age or those derived from extraordinary contingencies.
The PEM are classified as Basic, intended to cover food and hygiene needs; Housing, for rental expenses, mortgage amortization, basic supplies (water, electricity), alternative accommodation, maintenance of the habitual and permanent residence, removal of architectural barriers, small improvements to the habitual residence and acquisition of basic goods; Sociosanitary, for ocular, hearing or dental prostheses, dental treatments, prostheses, orthoses and pharmaceutical expenses; Social integration, for non-public nursery schools and occupational benefits, as well as other benefits valued by the Social Work Unit.
