The Santa Cruz de Tenerife Prosecutor’s Office requests a global sentence of 36 years in prison and the payment of 775,000 euros to seven people accused of selling drugs, mainly in the Santa Cruz neighborhood of Somosierra and in El Cardonal, in La Laguna.
The maximum sentence is six years in prison and the highest fine is 120,000 euros for two of the defendants for an alleged crime against public health that will be tried next week at the Provincial Court of Tenerife.
In addition, for the alleged crime of possession of 9,300 euros of counterfeit currency, one of the detainees is requested to be sentenced to six years in prison and a fine of 6,000 euros.
The police investigations concluded that the main defendant was engaged, at least since 2018, in the distribution of hashish and cocaine to third parties, both directly to consumers and to traffickers.
According to the indictment, one of the detainees supplied the former and the distributors, some of whom were identified and are considered to be part of this group, selling to retail dealers.
The sentimental partner of one of them was also directly involved in the illegal business that was the couple’s main source of income, which allowed them to maintain a high standard of living, according to the Prosecutor’s Office.
The woman was allegedly engaged in direct sales, while the man was in charge of the preparation and custody of the substances that he stored at his home and in a storage room that they had rented.
Once various telephone communications between the members of the gang and consumers were intercepted, at the end of 2018 the house occupied by the couple was entered and searched, where telephones, computers, an extensible electric shock baton, an immobilized taser type and almost 8,500 euros, as well as tools to prepare the merchandise.
The agents found about 500 grams of hashish of various purity and 9,300 euros of counterfeit currency.
That same day the same was done at the home of the main defendant, located in El Cardonal, where in addition to notes, telephones and 700 euros, they found 32 cocaine wrappers and several pieces of hashish.
In the homes of the other defendants where narcotic substances, weapons and various electronic devices were also found.
