The neighborhood of La Cuesta, in La Laguna, hosted last night its emotional procession of the Encounter and that every Holy Tuesday gains in faithful and expectation. After the traditional Eucharist in the parish of Nuestra Señora de La Paz y Unión, which was attended by the mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, and the president of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, together with other political personalities, the image of María Santísima de los Dolores left in procession, around 20:00, from the church.

There would be one of the most heartfelt and complicated moments of the journey, since it implied that the bearers had to remove the throne on their backs and on all fours, and rise after passing the door of the temple, shouting “To heaven with her! ”, and that, on this occasion, the foreman of the brotherhood invited the Canarian president to be the one to order it. A beginning of a procession that was dedicated to all those who are no longer here, especially those who were taken away by the pandemic.

At the same time that María Santísima de los Dolores left her parish, so did Our Father Jesus Captive before Caifás, from the church of Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria, both images going through the streets of the neighborhood to meet in the Plaza de la Candelaria on ten at night. The meeting, full of sentiment and devotion, was accompanied by a fine rain, which did not prevent, as is tradition, the reverences of the Sorrowful to Jesus Captive before Caifás from taking place.
