The Neighborhood Association of the Historic Center of La Laguna has denounced the noise problems due to nightlife in the municipality before the Common Deputy, Rafael Yanes, to denounce that they suffer noise problems due to nightlife in the municipality.
The representatives of the group remarked during the meeting that it is not a current problem, since the provisions of the regulations have not been complied with for a long time. “This circumstance is creating a situation of impunity,” they said.
The Association stressed that no transport with more than 3,000 kilos can circulate through the historic center, nor can it exceed 60 decibels in the old town, “two requirements that are not being met.”
The president of the Association, Pablo Reyes, called for a rational use of public spaces, since, although the activities generate economy, they require coordination and control of sound. “This situation causes sleep and health problems in the neighbors,” he warned.
According to Reyes, “there are several complaints filed by the Association due to noise pollution, non-compliance with the schedules of street artists, etc.”
The Deputy of the Common, for his part, promised to contact the La Laguna City Council to find out if the municipal ordinance is being complied with. “These types of complaints are common in the Diputación del Común, since it is a problem to combine the right to leisure with the right to rest.”
For their part, the members of the Association filed a complaint with the Diputación del Común denouncing their situation.
