The dirt courts of El Cortijo Club Campo, in the Gran Canaria municipality of Telde, hosted this Sunday the start of the largest series of ITF tennis tournaments held in the Canary Islands, with the TDC-Series PROwhich started with the dispute of the preliminary phase of the first of the under 15 tournaments, the Gran Canaria Women’s TDC Series PRO I – W15 Teldeendowed with a cash prize of 15,000 dollars, and with the beginning of the previous phase of the tournament belonging to the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors J60 Telde. Held together, both tournaments will have the participation, in this first week, of 168 players who come from lists of more than 1000 registered.
He J60 Telde (junior tournament) will have the participation in the final phase, which will start on Tuesday, invited by the organization with a wild card the canaries Roberto
Perez Socas and Enrique Rodriguez Gil. Directly in the final table and classified by ranking, they will be defending the canary colors noah lopezwho will start as the tenth seed and Kenay Ortiz. In the previous phase there will also be the canaries David Roseler, Samuel García, Saúl Pacheco and Rodrigo Ledesma.
In the female box the four invitations will be for the Canarian players Irene Vigara, Daniela Fernández, Carlota Heinz and Gabriela Paunwho will start playing next Tuesday, while in the previous phase they will participate Marta Gayoso, Laura Tapia, Noah Rojas and Emma Ascanio as local representatives.
The national referee of the tournament will be Jorge Reoyo (White sheet).
The Cortijo Club de Campo is committed to youth tennis to give young Canarian players the opportunity to compete at the highest level without leaving the islands and to be able to make the leap from youth tennis to professional tennis, this being the most difficult step within this sport, while attracting players of more than 60 nationalities to the island of Gran Canaria. Gran Canaria thus becomes a meeting point for international tennis, managing to promote the sport-tourism pairing.
