SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 31 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife has launched the contracting file for the drafting of the remodeling project for Galván Bello avenue between Paseo Marcial García and Avenida Marítima for a budget of 224,622 euros.
The Island Institution intends to adapt and transform these sections of road, eliminating traffic and allowing access only to authorized vehicles or those with garages in the area. This project is included among the actions of the Tenerife and the Sea Program of the Strategic Framework for Insular Development (MEDI-FDCAN).
“In our interest in deploying a battery of actions aimed at improving leisure spaces near the sea, we have included this intervention in the municipality of Granadilla de Abona, specifically in El Médano, a place that has become a very popular tourist attraction. important and that needs an urban adaptation to the new times”, has indicated the president of the Cabildo, Pedro Martín.
Martín pointed out that “this project will take into account circumstances such as accessibility, and also the intention of creating close and friendly spaces in which locals and visitors enjoy the proximity to the beach, as we are already doing in other enclaves on the island. like Las Caletillas, Fasnia, Adeje, or Guía de Isora”.
For her part, the insular director of Tourism, Laura Castro, recalled that the drafting of this project will have a maximum period of nine months, and that it is an initiative that is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals by providing universal access to areas green, and safe, inclusive and accessible public spaces, particularly for older people and people with disabilities.
The island director also pointed out that the project should “configure a continuous itinerary appropriate to current accessibility conditions, improving its finishes and materials, its street furniture, lighting and living areas, recreation and shade, and respecting and promoting the accesses and direct communications with the coast and the sea”.
