The motion, raised by the groups Sí Podemos, CC-PNC and PPit will not be able to take place beyond May 28, when the elections are held, and it will be the next corporation that decides whether to continue the work.

The proponent groups rejected an amendment to the entirety of the non-attached counselor, María José Belda, in which she requested to urge that the same proposal be submitted to the Congress of Deputies and the Parliament of the Canary Islands, but in the first case it was already rejected and in the second, the Chamber has already been dissolved.

The spokesman for Sí Podemos, David Carballo, regretted that the proposal had to be debated via motion because it admits amendments that “distort” its meaning and although the work will decline with the end of the mandate, given the seriousness of the facts, he believes that ” The least” that the current corporation can do is start the commission.

Faced with Belda’s criticism because the proposal is presented in the Cabildo and is not supported by Congress or the Parliament of the Canary Islands, she has stressed that they have been elected by the citizens in the Cabildo and that is where their responsibility lies.

Belda has charged against the “inconsistencies” of the purple formation because the cases of corruption “no matter what party and government they are in, they must be clarified”, and in this sense, she has called it “inconsistent” that they “lead” the proposal in the Cabildo and refuse in the legislative chambers, also reproaching that they closed the door to other commissions of investigation on the ‘mask case’.

In his opinion, it seems that they want to “score a few goals”, wash “the face” and “by the way” go “against” the president of the Cabildo, Pedro Martín. The spokesman for Ciudadanos (CS), Enrique Arriaga, has agreed with Belda that it is “surreal” that Sí Podemos promotes the commission of inquiry in the Cabildo “and does not ask for it” neither in the Canary Islands nor in the State.

He has indicated that “we must go to the end” and that “the whole truth be found out and the responsibilities cleared up” even though there is “absolutely nothing” in the Cabildo.

The PP spokeswoman, Zaida González, has pointed out that the “transparency exercise” should have been carried out “and quickly” when it became known that the management of Pérez Peña, according to the known audios, “has not been clean.”

He has said that he would like there to be a commission of investigation in all the institutions, but it is not possible, and he has denied that the opposition wants to promote a “witch hunt”, on the contrary, they pursue the search for “transparency” and know all the activities of the island director.

The PSOE reproaches that other commissions for more serious cases are not requested

For the Socialist Group, Aarón Afonso has stressed that Ángel Pérez is no longer part of the government team, so he sees a “contradiction” that political responsibilities are purged apart from the fact that the opposition has been given all the information on files in the area sports.

He has reproached the directors for not having had an interest in opening investigative commissions on “more serious” cases that affect the Cabildo such as Geneto, the NAP, casinos or the audit of public companies. “I need them to explain it to me,” he added.

He has also questioned the “virtuality” of the commission because it will not continue its work after the elections –unless the new corporation agrees– which shows that “the only objective is political tactics and the elections within two months.”

Afondo has ironized that CC goes “hand in hand” with Podemos in this initiative when they have said that they do not agree with them and has insisted on the message of “zero tolerance” from the insular government. “Those who have put their hand in pay, the gulfs where they have to be,” he explained.

For the insular director, the only objective of the opposition is to create “a circus and a paseíllo” two months before the elections when it comes to “a serious and rigorous issue.”

Verónica Messeguer (CC-PNC) has made the PSOE ugly that they are the ones who put on “shows” and “use justice to do harm” and has claimed that the investigation commission is requested after the extraordinary plenary session and it occurs “now” because the facts are recent.

He has also said that they have not yet received all the information on the files of the Sports area because they lack the Ideco contracts, among others.
