Rosa Dávila recovers José Miguel Ruano for the list of CC to the Cabildo

Rosa Dávila, candidate for Canarian Coalition to preside over the Council of Teneriferecovers José Miguel Ruano, who was a director of the Government of the Canary Islands and removed from the policy four years ago, for his list for the Island Corporation in the elections on May 28. Both confirmed the news and agreed on the “illusion” of working together again as they did in the regional Executive on the road to recovering the “lost strength” of the Island in this mandate. Ruano treasures extensive experience in his long political career and was a prominent member of the nationalist autonomous governments, the last (2015-2019) under the presidency of Fernando Clavijo. With a solid legal background, he played a prominent role in the development of the Autonomy Statute Reform approved in November 2018.

José Miguel Ruano retired from politics in June 2019. He values that now “he could not ignore” his partner’s call to participate in an “exciting” project. During this time he has continued as a lawyer for the Parliament of the Canary Islands and Professor of Constitutional Law at the University of La Laguna. In addition, he points out, “I have collaborated with the Government of Canary Islands in enabling maritime spaces with Morocco”.

Dávila called him to offer him to participate in a project that “promotes Tenerife through the Cabildo. It seems fundamental to me after four years without projects, without planning and without management by Pedro Martín and the PSOE ». He values that, “beyond general problems such as the covid-19 pandemic, the Island has not advanced. Without solutions or proposals from the local sphere, the insular one”.

Ruano feels “strong” at 62 and makes himself available to Rosa Dávila. Due to his professional profile and experience, it is likely that his task will focus on Territorial Planning or Mobility. He understands that “now is the time to listen and propose, ideas and objectives because it is clear to me that there are no magical solutions to problems, only work”.

José Miguel Ruano did not want to influence those who will accompany him because “that corresponds to Rosa.” But he is clear that “there is a concept and a sense of team and that is very important. It is made up of capable people who can straighten the course of Tenerife because we have been confused for years. He offers a message of “hope and illusion to the people of Tenerife, the same that we have.”

first political level

Rosa Dávila was yesterday in her last plenary session of the Parliament of the Canary Islands. He expressed his “satisfaction” for the incorporation of José Miguel Ruano into his island project. He understands that he is “a figure of the first political level, one of the fathers of our Statute of Autonomy.” Among the reasons for the signing is “to recover the political level that the Cabildo had with Adán Martín or Ricardo Melchior and that is only possible with politicians of this stature. It was important to recover it for Canarian politics and for Tenerife ».

Dávila emphasizes that “without detracting from anyone, we once again have a young person who has a lot to contribute due to his background, experience and training.” He adds that he “is infected with the desire and illusion to win the elections and recover the Cabildo for the Island.” He recalls that “we both share the same political father, Adán Martín, and a common vision of the Canary Islands from the island. We have a clear vision of the role that Tenerife should play.”

Trajectory

Jose Miguel Ruano Lion He has a degree in Law from the University of La Laguna (1985). During the 1999-2003 Legislature, he held the position of Regional Councilor for Education, Culture and Sports. Between 2005 and 2007 he moved to the Presidency and Justice, From July 2007 to July 2011, Presidency, Justice and Security. He is a deputy of the Parliament of the Canary Islands and president of the Group (2011-2015). Spokesperson for the Canarian Nationalist Group (2015-2019).

the list tomorrow

Rosa Dávila will deliver the list tomorrow to the Political Council of the Canary Islands Coalition. There she will announce the rest of the members. She already has it defined except for fringes but she only anticipates that “there will be surprises.” He insists on “forming a solvent and balanced team in the territory with prepared people and the desire to restore Tenerife and the Canary Islands to their lost importance after four years with the government of Pedro Martín.”

some names

In addition to Ruano, the current councilors of the Santa Cruz City Council Dámaso Arteaga, who would return to the Cabildo, and Juan José Martínez, for the first time, seem confirmed on that CC list. Among the ten current directors, everything points to what Efraín Medina and Blanca Pérez will repeat. The rest is unknown except for the farewell by own decision of the current spokesman and former president, Carlos Alonso.
