From the La Laguna Town Planning Department they have explained that the company promoting the recently inaugurated wake in the Plaza del Cristo has not provided the authorization for the occupation of the public domain for the passage of funeral vehicles through said square, and that another series of breaches of the applicable regulations have also been detected.
The managing director of the Management, Santiago Pérez, recalled that “the construction license for the building was granted on May 8, 2019, that is, a few days after the end of the previous term”, and that “the current local government informed those responsible for Mémora that the license did not give them the right to use the Plaza del Cristo, which is a public property, and that this required authorization from the City Council”.
For all these reasons, the Management has notified the hearing process, prior to issuing a resolution of ineffectiveness of the communication of the start of the activity to the entity, in which it is concluded that “the act that has been communicated to this Administration lacks legal validity, not displaying the legally foreseen effects and, consequently, the installation of a wake in the square is not legitimized and must cease its installation, without prejudice to the fact that a period of 15 days is granted to formulate allegations and present the documentation ”.
