Arona recovers and develops a project that was raised more than a decade ago and calls it Parque Lineal Chayofa–La Camella. It is a promenade that will link both towns in the Aronera area with a pedestrian route that will also have a bike lane and small recreational areas. The government group led by José Julián Mena defends that the initiative conforms to the environmental values, regeneration of the natural environment and healthy living that have been developed in recent years.
The road on which it will be carried out is integrated into a surrounding agricultural environment. The adaptation that it will undergo will link the “recreational areas” to strategic locations and contemplation of the landscape with small pieces of urban furniture, lighting and low stone walls that will blend in with the landscape, guaranteeing the protection and safety of the walker.
It is about recovering the layout of the old main road that ran between Chayofa and La Camella through this sustainable pedestrianization project in which the local government has an impact, stressing that the area is revalued and a new public space is fostered for the citizenship.
A very important aspect of this project is its sustainable approach. A fact that is guaranteed “Not only with the recovery of an old path, but also with the aim of protecting and enhancing the existing landscape and its native character through the conditioning and replacement of species in the area.”
The Chayofa-La Camella Linear Park requires the involvement, through an agreement, of the Cabildo de Tenerife, taking into account that part of the route runs through roads owned by them. The pedestrian route, in addition, will respect the accesses to the existing farms and properties in said area.
The mayor of Arona, José Julián Mena, points out that with the Chayofa–La Camella Linear Park “we want to create a new public space, while recovering an old layout of Arona, integrating it into the natural landscape of the municipality and thus rehabilitating an important area of medianías, which has some remarkable landscape values ». The councilor stops to defend that this walk “is another example of our commitment and commitment to the environment, sustainable mobility and the recovery of spaces for our citizens, while promoting a healthier lifestyle.”
