In July 2022, the Santa Cruz City Council announced the unlocking of a new sports space that came to improve the facilities of the María Jiménez neighborhood, which only has a soccer field. Eight months later, the mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, presented the project to the residents of the neighborhood yesterday, whose work will go out to tender shortly, and which will be possible thanks to the transformation of the plot on which the new pavilion will be erected. , whose uses went from educational to sports.
The new space will be built on plot 15 of the aforementioned Santacrucero neighborhood, measuring 2,926 square meters, and which foresees an investment of more than 1.7 million euros, “an action that has a mixed, relatively new concept, where spaces for the practice of regulated sports with other more multipurpose areas and green and recreational spaces”, the councilor advanced.
