Canarian Coalition brings a motion to the plenary session of the Cabildo this Friday in which it demands the president, Peter Martinthat start a procedure against his Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Javier Parrillato “clarify the Responsibilities for the illegal change of the Artisanal Fishing logo“. The report of the General Secretariat of the Plenary on the “unilateral” change and use of the badge “indicates possible civil and criminal responsibilities for not following the established procedures and procedures. Parrilla defends himself: “The regulation is clear and there is no negative report on anything.” He considers that DC tries to “overshadow the commitment of these four years with the fishing of Tenerife“.
The nationalists argue that “Javier Parrilla unilaterally modified the logo in November 2020 and allocated public money for this”. They add that “the administrative services of the Cabildo warned him that he could not use the new logo before its final approval by the plenary, which did not happen”
The nationalist councilors Antolín Bueno and Verónica Meseguer explained this Tuesday at a press conference the content of the motion that they hope will have the support of the rest of the groups so that the opening of proceedings against Javier Parrilla can go ahead. Bueno explained that the Cabildo de Tenerife approved the Artisanal Fishing brand and its regulations in December 2015.
We talked about possible crimes because he skipped all the paperwork and procedures
Bueno pointed out that the nationalist group requested a report from the General Secretariat of the Plenary on the matter. It was issued on January 26. There we talk about possible civil and criminal responsibilities. “Later, he adds he, We ask for an extension providing evidence of the use of the illegal logo“. On March 7, another report was issued by the body, which tells the president of the Cabildo “to initiate a procedure against the counselor Parrilla, to elucidate the possible responsibilities in which he may have incurred”, Given the refusal of Martín, Bueno points out, “we are going to present a motion to start the procedure immediately and, where appropriate, transfer it to the courts.”
The CC-PNC counselor explained that “the Regulations for the Use of the Artisanal Fishing Collective Brand have been violated, Law 7/1985, of April 2, regulating the Bases of the Local Regime and Law 17/2001, of 7 of December, Trademarks and Patents”.
They try to overshadow the commitment to fishing in Tenerife in these four years
“The regulation is clear and there is no negative report on anything.” This is assured by Javier Parrilla, who adds: “The important thing and what is trying to obscure is the Government commitment to the fishing sector of Tenerife“. He stresses that “only this year’s budget for fishing is greater than the investment of the previous government group in its four terms of office.” In addition, he values, “between 2020 and 2023, we have multiplied the investment by four, exceeding 2 5 million euros”.
The counselor stresses that “in 2015 the budget for fishing was 5,000 euros, an insulting figure”. So, he explains, “in response to this absolute lack of management, this government redoubled its efforts and put on the table investments and items that had never been considered before”. He argues that “not to subsidize losses, but to boost the sustainability of the sector’s productivity. And we will continue working along these lines.”
He concludes: “The Canarian Coalition is against artisanal fishing because the only thing it achieves is hindering management, interrupting processes and procedures, both in the field of aid and in those of promotion.”
