The National Police detains a man in Tenerife for mistreating the children of his deceased ex-partner



Agents of the National Police have arrested in the municipality of San Cristóbal de La Laguna (Tenerife) a 39-year-old man, with no police record, as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of ill-treatment in the family environment towards the children of his deceased ex-partner .

The police action began after a call from a girl under the age of 17 reporting that the man she lived with along with her 15-year-old brother, her deceased mother’s ex-partner, beat them and mistreated them constantly, also punishing them without eating often. The minors were totally incommunicado and only left the family home to go to the educational center.

Specialized agents from the Family and Women’s Care Unit of the National Police immediately went to the educational center and transferred the minors to a nearby medical center, where health personnel certified the seriousness of the injuries that the two minors had, including there were multiple bruises with erythemas on the legs, buttocks, and forearms; lacerations, anxiety, tremors and signs of malnutrition.

After bringing the facts to the attention of the Juvenile Section of the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office, it was decreed that the adolescents be admitted to a center in Tenerife for their custody and care.

The stepfather was located and arrested in La Laguna for a crime of ill-treatment in the family environment, and immediately afterwards, by the competent judicial authority, a restraining order was decreed due to the facts investigated.
