Arrested in Tenerife for mistreating the children of his deceased ex-partner

Agents of the National Police have been arrested in the municipality of San Cristobal from La Laguna (Tenerife) a 39-year-old man, with no police record, as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of mistreatment in the family environment towards the children of his deceased ex-partner.

The police action began after a call from a girl under the age of 17 reporting that the man she lived with along with her 15-year-old brother, her deceased mother’s ex-partner, beat them and mistreated them constantly, also punishing them without eating often. The minors were totally incommunicado and only left the family home to go to the educational center.

Specialized agents from the Family and Women’s Care Unit of the National Police immediately went to the educational center and transferred the minors to a nearby medical center, where health personnel certified the seriousness of the injuries that the two minors had, including there were multiple bruises with erythemas on the legs, buttocks, and forearms; lacerations, anxiety, tremors and signs of malnutrition.

After bringing the facts to the attention of the Minors Section of the Provincial Prosecutor’s Officeit was decreed to enter the adolescents in a center in Tenerife for their custody and care.

The stepfather was located and arrested in La Laguna for a crime of ill-treatment in the family environment, and immediately afterwards, by the competent judicial authority, a restraining order was decreed due to the facts investigated.
