Seprona intervenes in Tenerife 18 kilos of illegally caught fish

SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 26 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Nature Protection Service (Seprona) has seized 18 kilos of illegally caught fish in the La Resbalada area, within the municipality of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

In a statement, the Civil Guard has explained that the events occurred when the agents, after discreet surveillance, surprised several people at the moment they were preparing to leave the sea with the boat in which they were carrying the captured fish and the ‘ trammel net used for the capture.

In this way, different varieties of fish have intervened (viejas, bream, mullet, and salemas), as well as the trammel net, 50 meters long and 1.5 meters wide, which has been made available to the Ministry of Fishing of the Government of the Canary Islands for its destruction.

The reports of denouncement instructed and that have been sent to the sanctioning authority competent in the matter, refer to minor and serious infractions established in articles 69 and 70 of Law 17/2003, of April 10, on Fishing in the Canary Islands.
