Increasingly, the works are carried out bearing in mind compliance with environmental and sustainability standards in the medium and long term. For this reason, the La Guancha sanitation work, included in the 2018-2021 Municipal Cooperation Plan and which has been awarded to Traysesa, is a good example of this, not only because of what it means to improve the infrastructure in charge of the conveyance of municipal wastewater, but because the structured PVC pipes of the Ecosan series installed, distributed by the company Foncal in Canary Islandson site they are manufactured using a minimum percentage of 60% recycled plastic.
This product is not only innovative, but it is also nationally manufactured, with a certificate of minimum content in recycled material according to the UNE EN 15343 standard, issued by the well-known certifying entity AENOR. This guarantees not only its minimum content of recycled material and its commitment to the circular economy, but thanks to the product certification according to the UNE EN 13476 standard, it also guarantees that the Ecosan pipe more than meets the resistance and durability requirements, as well as of ease of installation, like other equivalent products made with virgin PVC. It is a product that is unassailable by rodents or termites, with a proven useful life of more than 50 years and 100% recyclable up to 7 times at the end of its useful life. Beyond its durability, Ecosan reduces the consumption of virgin PVC and promotes the circular economy process that helps protect our islands.
This new type of pipe concentrates recycled PVC in its core, limiting the use of virgin PVC to the internal and external layers, achieving an extremely smooth internal surface. Thanks to this, its low roughness coefficient makes it suitable for use on less steep slopes, maintaining a minimum pressure loss and improving flow. In addition, this pipe remains unaltered by the chemical substances contained in the water and in the soil and is inert to corrosion.
The progress and development of products such as Ecosan, has led the La Guancha City Council, headed by Mr. Mayor D. Antonio Hernández Domínguez, to bet on advanced technical solutions with recycled materials such as the Ecosan system, in its firm commitment to the environment and sustainability in the Canary Islands.
