With an investment of one million euros, the Circle of Fine Arts de Santa Cruz is on its way to reopening, which is expected to take place in October, once the works that are being carried out have been completed, the financing of which is scheduled for the end of summer. After conditioning the exhibition halls and the cafeteria, cultural life will once again fill the rooms of the Círculo de Bellas Artes, closed for more than four years.
Yesterday, the mayor of the capital, José Manuel Bermúdez, together with the president of the cultural entity, Alejandro Tosco, visited the five floors that make up the building. The councilor announced that the Consistory will contribute another 400,000 euros so that the Círculo can face the second phase, in which it will be able to condition, among other things, the theater and thus incorporate it into the cultural offer of the entity in the immediate future.
As Tosco explained, “we are dealing with works that do not change the aesthetics of the building, but allow us to adapt to current regulations on accessibility or safety. It is an intervention in the bowels of the Circle”.
Bermúdez affirmed that “for us the Círculo de Bellas Artes is an ally of Santa Cruz, since the cultural history of this city is not understood without the presence of this entity, since its activity has always been linked to the capital.” He concluded by stating that “perhaps for this reason, when the possibility of updating this building to current regulations was raised, the City Council understood that we had to collaborate, because, despite being a private entity, it has always allowed public access to all the citizenship”.
