The La Constitución de La Laguna park hosts the Floraguere floral art fair from this Friday until next Sunday, an event that was created to promote the cut flower and live plant sector of the municipality and that will have the participation of seven floral artists . The initiative, promoted by various businessmen in the sector, receives the support of the City Council through different areas.
Floraguere was presented yesterday by the mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez; the promoter of the project, Fulgencio Espinosa, and the councilors for Tourism, Idaira Afonso, Commerce, Aitami Bruno, and Culture, Yaiza López Landi, as well as the head of the Rural Development area, Aitor López.
Luis Yeray Gutiérrez underlined the City Council’s transversal support for this initiative. “The floriculture sector in La Laguna is a leader in the Canary Islands, both in production, invoicing and number of employees, and deserves our full support,” he said, highlighting the number of companies, 27, that the municipality has dedicated to the production of cut flowers, live plants and cuttings.
Fulgencio Espinosa explained that the initiative “is an event aimed at promoting the cultivation of flowers, and we understand that art is a way of giving it visibility, as well as the commercial and productive fabric of the municipality through artistic expression with flowers and plants. live”.
Seven artists (Ángela Batista, Celeste Elisa Castillo, José Luis Delgado, María Marsi, Paco Medina, Montserrat Domínguez and Fulgencio Espinosa himself) participate in Floraguere, which will also feature an exhibition of cut flowers and live plants grown in La Laguna.
Idaira Afonso indicated that “a fair like this is one more attraction for our visitors and it is also an axis of sustainability that we promote transversally from all areas.” “Floraguere is an opportunity to show the variety of the productive sectors that we have in our municipality, and to contribute to making visible this commercial activity, which is the livelihood of many of our families,” said Aitami Bruno, underlining the coincidence of this activity with the Festival of the Tree, which will be presented in the coming days.
Aitor López highlighted that “floral art positions us as a reference, international even, in the production of flowers and ornamental plants, since we also export and have a very innovative character in this sector”.
