SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 21 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife, through the Municipal Cooperation and Housing area, has approved today in the Governing Council the award of the project to improve the sanitation and rainwater networks in Camino Viejo and El Pino streets, in the municipality of Tegueste . The planned investment amounts to 1,010,000 euros, of which the Cabildo will contribute 90% and the City Council the remaining 10%.

The councilor for the area, Zebenzuí Chinea, announced that the works will begin shortly and stressed that with this action “the improvement of sanitation in this area of the municipality continues to be promoted, to respond to the demand of the population that has been waiting for years for provision of these services under quality conditions”.

The project is part of the Insular Municipal Cooperation Plan 2018-2021 and will cover Camino Viejo street and part of El Pino. The expected period for the execution of the works, awarded to the company Construcciones Rodríguez Mesa SL, is 13 months and will also include the installation of sewage collectors.

Its development is part of the cooperation projects that the president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, discussed with the mayoress of Tegueste, Ana Rosa Mena, during a recent visit to the municipality to learn about the work being carried out, among which are the improvement works already completed on Buenavista street, the access road to the municipal cemetery.

The island councilor also advanced another investment of 1.6 million euros, already budgeted in the 2022-2025 Cooperation Plan, to complete the installation of sanitation networks in the streets surrounding the aforementioned roads.

The mayoress of Tegueste, Ana Rosa Mena, stressed that making progress on sanitation is “crucial” for the municipality and recalled that the collaboration with the Cabildo “will allow us to respond to some needs located in different parts of the municipality.” In this sense, she added that the support of the Cabildo “is essential to give impetus to projects that will represent an improvement not only for the day-to-day life of residents, but that will result in the sustainability of Tegueste and the island.”

The works planned in Camino Viejo street will consist of the execution of new pipes, to separate the rainwater network from the sanitation network, from the intersection of the access street to the cemetery with Camino de El Brezo. The project also contemplates the installation of a new supply network with a new channeling on both sidewalks, as well as the replacement of household connections. Once the works come to an end, the asphalt pavement of the road will be replaced, as well as the steel one.

The intervention on El Pino street will cover some 60 meters from San Marcos square, a section in which a separate network for sanitation and rainwater services will also be installed. Chinea stressed that it is an ambitious project that will be enriched with a specific action to relieve the sewage collector on Arañita street, which collects water from Las Canteras and Pedro Álvarez. To this end, a spillway will be built in the aforementioned collector, a work that is included in the project to improve the Comarcal del Noroeste-Tejina collector, promoted by the Tenerife Island Water Council.

Chinea highlighted, in this sense, the investment effort made this mandate to collaborate with the island’s municipalities in improving the sanitation, stormwater and supply infrastructures, to guarantee the provision of these services in optimal conditions to the public.
