“The current government has allowed the deterioration of direct services to residents”

Despite being in opposition for the last four years, Eva García assures that the socialist municipal group has been at the side of the residents at all times, listening to their demands and concerns, serving as a link between the different administrations and making proposals in plenary sessions , many of which have been executed. For this reason, she does not rule out that they return to place their trust in her and win the elections on May 28 “to end four years of failures and disappointments” and “recover the illusion in Buenavista del Norte.”

-What grade would you give the current government team?
“The residents of Buenavista will be the ones who evaluate the current government of Sí se puede and CC. The PSOE opts for the data: In the previous mandate we left more than 1.2 million of external investment for the execution of projects and the improvement of facilities. The current government has executed less than 10% of that investment in four years. In the previous mandate, we lowered the City Council’s debt by around 50% -a total of 2.5 million- and services were improved. The current government not only has not lowered it, according to the latest statistics, but has allowed direct services to residents to deteriorate”.

-What X-ray do you make of the municipality today?
“Buenavista del Norte is a municipality with great strengths and opportunities that must be channeled through the citizens. Unfortunately, the current government team has lost the opportunity to carry them out. He has lost four years.”

-On many occasions you have criticized the paralysis of investments in the municipality due to lack of management. Which are?
“The list is very long and they all had financing from the Tenerife Council and other administrations since 2018-2019: the loss of the subsidy to finish the Casa de Mayores (almost half a million euros); the abandonment or delay of projects such as the residence for people with disabilities, the Municipal Cinema, the San Francisco sports center, the Municipal Swimming Pool, the Barrio de la Cuesta Cultural Center, the Calisthenics Park, the Las Canteras Park, various projects related to the Rural Park and Punta de Teno, or the emptying of the El Fraile landfill, the same project for which I was denounced in the past mandate. We have examined the execution of the proposals that Si Se Puede had in its 2019 electoral program, and made public our bewilderment with its non-compliance, a few weeks after the end of its term.”

-Having a pier that allows fishermen to embark and disembark in the municipality is one of your goals?
“Of course. Many people have told us that they would be interested in engaging in artisanal fishing if they had the opportunity and we want to meet that demand. It was already an objective in the past mandate when we managed to get the management of the Masca jetty to fall to the City Council. We will resume that project that will connect the Park and Punta de Teno with the town: a plan that will help us create a circular economy, sustainable and necessary for the development of employment, and to promote sectors as important as artisanal fishing, tourism, transportation And trade. We do not want – nor are we going to need – large infrastructures, but a coordination and connection between all sectors that has been conspicuous by its absence in the last four years”.

-He governed in agreement with CC and in this mandate that political formation has agreed with Yes we can. Would you agree with the nationalists again if necessary to govern?
“We have been working for a long time to reach the majority that will allow us to govern with the vote of the neighbors.”

– What will be your priorities if you win the Mayor’s Office again?
“Our main priorities are to revitalize the economy and employment, and streamline administrative procedures to promote the commercial and business sectors; strengthen security in the municipality; improve social and welfare policy, and recover the services that have been neglected and deteriorated in the last four years; and expedite the execution of projects that are paralyzed or delayed. For all this, it is essential to recover institutional relations with other public administrations, which the current government has neglected. We are committed to working with closeness, dedication and enthusiasm to solve the problems of the people”.
