SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 20 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The plenary session of the Cabildo de La Palma has unanimously approved this Monday by the PSOE, PP and CC groups the declaration of insular interest of the ‘ecoresort’ project that is being processed in the municipality of Breña Alta and that includes a golf course, planetarium, 5-star hotel, a congress center and various environmental regeneration works, with a total of 1,400 accommodation beds.
The Territorial Planning Minister, Gonzalo Pascual, has indicated that this complex “will qualify and diversify” the island’s tourist offer, which already needed more beds before the volcanic eruption and now “with more need than before”.
He has indicated that the island needs to develop and has made it clear that “there is no sustainability” in La Palma if greater tourism development is not achieved and the creation of “quality employment” is promoted.
According to Pascual, the island “cannot remain stagnant and lose tourism” and this project “values” the natural spaces, which are the “attractive” of the destination, through environmental regeneration works.
