Workshops, sports or music are some of the activities that, yesterday, in the new bathing area of El Bloque, in Valleseco, the Santa Cruz City Council organized with the aim of revitalizing this part of the coastline that is managing to gain a foothold in the Chicharreros beach routine. The mayor of the city, José Manuel Bermúdez, came to the area to share with the hundreds of users who gathered on the beach, a visit in which he thanked “the work carried out daily by the groups and citizen entities and that have perfectly coordinated to live a magnificent day in the new bathing area”.
Under the title Come to the Block, a meeting organized through the Department of Education and Youth, with the collaboration of Fundación Santa Cruz Sostenible, IMAS and the Anaga district, from 11:00 in the morning until three in the afternoon, the The users of El Bloque were able to enjoy the different activities launched.
The mayor toured the different workshops and activity areas and highlighted the success of the initiative, a visit in which he was accompanied, among others, by the mayor of Public Services, Carlos Tarife, and the Councilor for Education, Claudia Reverón.
Crafts, traditional crafts, a children’s play area, k-POP exhibitions and environmental activities such as diving completed a day in which the good atmosphere was the protagonist in a morning with a strong family character.
The coastline begins to take shape with the different actions that are being carried out, such as the neighboring Zona de Charcos, where, this Monday, the Port will begin the placement of the north walkway that will give access to this part of the coast when the project is finished. This is the same one that a month ago started a truck that bypassed the established gauge controls, colliding with the formwork, which caused its detachment.
The assembly works of the corresponding formwork will be carried out between 8:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m., so it will be necessary to close the Port Service Road to traffic in the section between Muelle Norte and El Bufadero. To try to alleviate the month of delay registered in the progress of the works, Puertos de Tenerife has acquired a second formwork that will be used to build the south pedestrian walkway, approximately 100 meters long.
After the assembly of the formwork for the north gangway, the assembly of the south gangway will start, barely a week later, with the latter being erected near the facilities of the Harbor Master’s Office tower. After concreting, the structures will be removed approximately thirty days later. And it is that this setback will cause the scheduled completion date of this work, in April, to be delayed.
