SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 18 (EUROPA PRESS) –
A 23-year-old man has been seriously injured after a sea surge on Diego Hernández beach, in the municipality of Adeje, in Tenerife, as reported by the Emergency and Security Coordination Center (Cecoes) 1-1-2.
The event occurred shortly after 3:00 p.m., when the 1-1-2 operating room received an alert stating that a bather had been pulled out of the water after a rough sea and required medical assistance.
Once the emergency resources were activated, the GES rescue helicopter, a sanitary ambulance from the SUC, a doctor from the Adeje Health Center, members of the Fire Consortium, Local Police and Civil Guard traveled to the scene.
Once there, rescuers from the GES helicopter got off the aircraft, reached the affected person and, after giving him initial attention, hoisted him onto the aircraft on a stretcher to evacuate him to the Adeje Volunteer Firefighters helipad.
Back on land, personnel from the SUC and the Health Center in the area assessed and assisted the bather who, once stabilized, was transferred in serious condition to the Hospital Universitario Ntra. Sra. de Candelaria due to trauma to his back.
Members of the Tenerife Fire Consortium ensured the landing and takeoff maneuvers of the helicopter on the helipad.
