SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 14 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Ministry of Economy, Knowledge and Employment has published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands the bases and the call for the granting of subsidies for the execution of various actions to reinforce connectivity in industrial estates and logistics centers in the territorial area of the community autonomous, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, financed by the European Union-Next Generation EU.
With this Government action, the industrial estates and logistics centers of the Canary Islands will be able to access a help line of 2,458,500 euros so that these areas of high business concentration have adequate broadband for the development of their activity.
The eligible actions are those that, respecting the principle of technological neutrality, are intended to cover investments and expenses directly related to installing a high-speed electronic communications network, capable of providing services at speeds of 1 Gbps, in each of the factories, centers and dependencies that are part of any of the material areas of action of those defined as eligible areas.
The maximum intensity of the aid will not exceed 80% of the cost of all eligible concepts. And the maximum amount of subsidy per project will be 63,000 euros and the maximum period for execution of the actions will be December 31, 2023.
The period for submitting applications will be open continuously from the day after the publication of this Order in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands until the exhaustion of the available credit or, in the event that this does not occur, until September 29, 2023 and will be carried out through the computer application for the management of the call at the electronic headquarters (https://sede.gobiernodecanarias.org/sede).
“This is a necessary action already identified in the Canary Islands Digital Agenda 2025 (ADCAN) that contributes to improving Connectivity for the development of business activity”, pointed out the director of the Canary Islands Agency for Research, Innovation and Society of Information, Carlos Navarro.
The Canarian Agenda for Sustainable Development 2030 progressively promotes the transformation, digitization and sustainability of the productive fabric of the Canary Islands. As a result of this commitment, and within the framework of the Canarias Territorio Digital Emprendedor guidelines, the Canary Islands Digital Agenda 2025 (ADCAN25) has been defined.
The established measures and objectives are promoted through three levers on which the digital transformation of the regional development model pivots. One of these levers is Connectivity, which, among other things, seeks to eliminate the digital divide, increasing connectivity ratios and territorial structure. In particular, within its Line of Action 24, the need to act on connectivity in industrial and logistics estates has been identified.
This line of subsidy from the Canary Islands Agency for Research, Innovation and Information Society (Aciisi) is the first time that it has been called with the ultimate goal of facilitating people’s lives and their opportunities in the use and access to ICT and their digital skills, as well as continue advancing in the ADCAN, with new initiatives such as this granting of aid for various actions to reinforce connectivity in industrial estates and logistics centers.
