A man, of whom no further information has been disclosed, died this Monday when rescuing another person who had fallen into the sea on La Calera beach, in the municipality of Valle Gran Rey, in La Gomera, as reported by the Coordinating Center Emergency and Security (Cecoes) 1-1-2.
The event occurred minutes before 1:00 p.m., when the 1-1-2 operating room received an alert that a person had fallen into the sea on the aforementioned beach, for which reason Cecoes immediately activated emergency resources. necessary to intervene in the area.
A basic life support ambulance from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) traveled to the place; a doctor and a nurse from the Valle Gran Canaria Health Center; Volunteer Firefighters of Valle Gran Rey; Local police; and Civil Guard.
A person jumped into the water and brought the victim to safety, but he was unable to get out of the sea. Other bathers who were in the area rescued the man who remained in the water and took him ashore, where, upon verifying that he was in cardiorespiratory arrest, they began to practice resuscitation maneuvers, in which the Valle Gran Rey Volunteer Firefighters also participated. .
Personnel from the SUC and the Health Center in the area continued to perform advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers without obtaining results, confirming his death. The Civil Guard guarded the body of the deceased until the arrival of the judicial authority and instructed the corresponding proceedings. The Local Police collaborated with the rest of the emergency resources.
