Tourist Centers of the Cabildo de Lanzarote have purchased three works by the artist Cesar Manrique in the 80s of the last century that belonged to a private collector of Tenerife.
These are two ‘Untitled’ works made in mixed technique (collage and painting) on cardboard and on board respectively, dated in the years 1987 and 1984and ‘Flecha del tiempo’, a work also in mixed technique on cardboard from 1989.
The President of the Cabildo de Lanzarote and the Board of Directors of Tourist Centers, Maria Dolores Corujo, has shown his “deep” satisfaction with an action that “allows us to recover a part of the creation of our most decisive artist to make it available to the population.” In addition, he has pointed out that the acquisition of these pieces “provides new elements that contribute to enriching the artistic, cultural and ethnographic heritage of the island.”
For his part, the CEO of the Entity, Benjamin Perdomohas advanced that, once acquired, “these works will be incorporated into the collection that the Tourist Centers of the Lanzarote council possess around the figure of its creator in the International Museum of Contemporary Art, MIAC – Castillo de San José”.
Perdomo has advanced that “soon” he hopes to give “new and good” news about the acquisition of more artistic work by César Manrique.
