The Operational Unit for Minors and Family of the General Corps of the Canarian Police has investigated in a educational center of Tenerife three minors, as alleged perpetrators of the crimes of injury, threats and coercion in the school environment towards a 13-year-old student.
The actions had their origin as a result of an intervention by members of the Citizen Security Operational Unit, of the same police force, when they were requested by a citizen to attend a fight in which minors were involved and in which several (at least three) hit another.
From this action, the Minors Unit took charge of the investigation, as reported this Friday by the Ministry of Public Administrations, Justice and Security in a statement.
In the course of the investigation, the agents verified that the assaulted minor had been bullied since January of this year, which was denounced by the mother on March 6, when she received news that her 13-year-old son had been receiving three months threats and insults by two brothers from the same institute as his son, plus a third from another school.
This repeated situation of abuse began in the school environment, although it continued outside of it through social networks.
Investigators have identified two minors related to these events, both 14 years old, as well as a third who, due to his age, is not criminally liable (13 years).
He adds that the victim suffered from anxiety and did not want to go to school, and he went from being a talkative, smiling child with good grades, to being quiet, sad and getting bad grades.
He showed nervousness in class and was even expelled, provoking him not to go to the center, adds the police force.
The corresponding proceedings have been forwarded to the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office of Santa Cruz de Tenerifespecifically to its Minors Section.
The regional department stresses that the Minors and Family Operational Unit is “devoted” to prosecuting this type of incident, and for this it has specialized agents who facilitate collaboration and provide the necessary help to the victims “and do not leave without clarify any action pursued in this area”.
