SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 8 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife has ratified this Wednesday its commitment to equality and the fight against gender violence on ‘International Women’s Day’.
The institutional act was attended by the president of the Cabildo, Pedro Martín, the third vice president and counselor for Social Action, Marián Franquet, and the CEO of Equality and Prevention of Gender Violence, Priscila de León, together with the spokespersons and representatives of political groups and staff of the corporation.
In its development, the agreement adopted in plenary session on the occasion of ‘Women’s Day’ was read in a shared manner, in which the insular commitment to the real and effective integration of women in all areas is ratified, to put an end to discrimination and fight against all forms of violence.
The CEO of Equality and Prevention of Gender Violence, Priscila de León, indicated at the meeting that “despite the achievements and achievements made for women, there is still a long way to go to end the gender inequalities that continue to occur, a date on which it is impossible to forget the harsh figures of women victims against women”.
Along these lines, she stressed that we must “continue working for a society where women and girls can live safely and with equal rights.”
Among the agreements adopted, the corporation undertakes to reinforce and give continuity to island actions and policies for real and effective equality of rights and opportunities for women.
From the Cabildo they insist that it is a joint work between the administrations, institutions, entities and social groups to guarantee the full and effective participation of women in all areas and promote actions that reach all women on the island, adjusted to their needs, situations and problems.
