Tenerife search from today and for two days at the International Tourism Fair of berlin (ITB) attract a young, active and aware tourism. The president of the Cabildo, Pedro Martín, assures that “the daily spending of the German traveler has increased by 20 percent in 2022 compared to 2019, while their loyalty has improved. The Island returns to this world event of the sector with the aim of showing, to this segment of the Teutonic population, the benefits of a smart destination that aims to inspire with its extensive multi-experience proposal.
Martín appreciates that Tenerife will attend this fair “with the aim of presenting the new strategy, strengthening digital and sustainable tourism development and collecting, first-hand, the trends and changes in the German market after the effects of the pandemic.”
In this sense, it ensures that “in recent years we have worked with the German market to avoid excessive dependence on the United Kingdom”. Hence, the investment in promotion and improvement of connectivity has multiplied by five since 2019. This has caused the numbers to have risen and that, in general, this winter “is being good,” adds the island president.
Peter Martin highlights the recovery of German tourism and highlights the increase in daily traveler spending, despite the fact that the visitor numbers are still a little lower than before the pandemic. In addition, it has been possible to improve the loyalty of the traveler. In fact, almost 62 percent of the Germans who visited Tenerife in 2022 had already been on the island.
For her part, the insular director of Tourism, Laura Castro, anticipates that “At the German fair, the Island will promote its character as a destination for nature and outdoor activities, where you can also enjoy unique gastronomy, heritage and climate”. In this regard, he also recalls that the German “is one of the most active tourists on the Island.”
The CEO of Turismo de Tenerife, David Pérez, explains that around 40 professional meetings will be held.
Tenerife will take advantage of its attendance at the ITB to expand its promotion through the German media present at the world tourist event.
