The sanitation and redevelopment works of Camino Viejo and El Pino streets, in TeguesteThey will start in a month. This was announced by the president of the Council of Tenerife, Pedro Martín, who visited together with the mayoress, Ana Rosa Mena, the status of the projects that the island corporation is promoting in the municipality and that also affect investments related to the primary sector and heritage. The Councilor for Municipal Cooperation and Housing of the Cabildo, Zebenzuí Chinea, and that of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Javier Parrilla, also participated in the meeting held. On behalf of the City Council, the Councilor for Works, Bernardo López, and the Councilor for Social Welfare, Candelaria de la Rosa, and that of Fiestas, Eladia López, joined.
The insular president explained that through these projects “We want to make urban spaces more livable and habitable, improving and providing new services to Tegueste”. In this sense, he also highlighted the award this year of two subsidies to the City Council for a total value of more than 900,000 euros “to promote two of the projects most in demand by the municipality, such as the fitting out of a public car park and the recovery of Sansó gardens, in the historic center, whose works were paralyzed by the previous island government.

Ana Rosa Mesa He thanked the collaboration of the Cabildo de Tenerife, “which has also supported the municipalities with necessary and essential actions for the population, such as the improvement of sanitation networks.” And the local councilor added: «There have been many years of neglect and waiting, and finally these works have been able to be promoted thanks to the island’s aid. Tegueste deserves to have new urban spaces, modern services and equipmentthat contribute to improving the quality of life of our neighbors, and make their day-to-day life more comfortable.
Regarding the sanitation and urbanization works planned in Camino Viejo and El Pino streets, the president explained that the works imply a investment of 1,060,000 euros, included in the Municipal Cooperation Plan 2018-2021, of which the Cabildo will provide 90% of the financing and the City Council the remaining 10%, according to the note.
The works were awarded this Monday and will allow “renewing the drinking water supply network and separately channeling rainwater and sanitation.” The works will be completed with the conditioning of the roads and the provision of low voltage lighting and telecommunications installations.
To this investment must be added a item of 1.6 million euros, provided for in the current 2022-2025 Cooperation Plan, to complete the improvement of the sanitation network on roads near Camino Viejo and install wastewater collectors. In parallel, the Cabildo has approved in the Governing Council to grant a grant of 698,000 euros to the town hall to acquire a plot of more than 1,000 square meters with the aim of setting up a public car park.
