The municipality of Tacoronte is these days immersed in the celebration of its Carnival, the one known as Piñata Chica, which this 2023 has left a more than positive balance in terms of participation.

Thousands of people took to the streets to enjoy some of the highlights of the Tacoronteras festivities, such as the Miss Mosto contest, the Queen of the Piñata Chica Election Gala or the Coso Apotheosis held in the central Plaza de la Estación.

According to the most veteran residents, they did not remember having seen such a large number of people in the years that the Piñata Chica de Tacoronte has been running. This tradition dates back to the 80s, when a group of neighbors began the journey of the Tacorontero Carnival.

“This year, in addition, from the Department of Fiestas we have wanted to recognize the work of the founders of the Piñata Chica, men and women, neighbors and neighbors, who worked in the shadows so that this tradition reached our days. It is our responsibility to keep it alive and dignify it. For this reason, we have put all the meat in this edition”, said the Councilor for Commerce, Culture and Festivals, Sandra Izquierdo.

According to data handled by the organization, during these three days, since the events began last Friday, March 3, until the Burial of the Sardine, this Monday the 6th, more than 15,000 people have attended the scheduled events in total. A milestone for the Tacoronteras carnival, taking into account that there is still the last appointment of the festivities in honor of Don Carnal, next Friday, March 10, with the IX Dance of Mascaritas Guarache.
