One week has passed since the reopening of the El Bloque bathing areaon the coast of valleseco. The good weather of the last week has accompanied the users who gradually approach this new space to enjoy a bath, in the middle of winter.
Yesterday, Saturday, parking was not a problem, and many bathers enjoyed this renewed enclave. As is logical, there are still some dysfunctions in the correct use of the space, since, although the signage indicates some of the rules of use, such as the prohibition of smoking, and others such as not using devices to play music, some bathers do not adhered to these rules and you could see some people smoking and others with the music invading the entire space.
As it is already a bathing area with all its services, a Red Cross lifeguard also remains in the facilities during most of the time they are open. Just yesterday he had to address a group of young people who were jumping from the top of the El Bloque dock on several occasions, to get them to stop doing it, since it is not only prohibited, but also carries a serious risk to their physical integrity.
On the neighboring Acapulco beach, the first dogs could already be seen enjoying what has become the first space for pets in the entire capital. Thus, while the entry of animals is prohibited in the El Bloque area, their entry is allowed on Acapulco beach, and the municipal ordinance regulating the protection and possession of animals must be complied with. Just yesterday, a young man, accompanied by a parrot, was invited to leave El Bloque, precisely because of the ban on the presence of animals, telling him to go to neighboring Acapulco.
Other prohibitions have to do with fishing, which can no longer be practiced in the dock area, or the presence of boats or any type of recreational craft, which must be outside the bathing area, which is marked out with buoys.
And it is that being able to enjoy the Valleseco coastline is a historical demand from its neighbors, as was the repair of the Charcos area, whose work is scheduled to be completed in April, although after the breakage of the structure of the first access walkway, this time limit may be extended somewhat more. At the moment, it is precisely the residents who are making the most use of this area whose repair they have been demanding for years, a defense of the Valleseco coastline that does not wane since they do not forget that the Acapulco beach is pending repair.
Improvements in the bathing area of El Bloque
With the sun at its highest, the presence of larger vegetation in El Bloque is still missing, since, although already planted, it will be necessary to wait for it to grow before it can do its job. A children’s playground, new stairs to access the sea, benches, and platforms on which to place umbrellas, make up a space that opens every day at seven in the morning and closes at eleven at night.
The budget paid for by the capital’s City Council, of more than 400,000 euros, has also been used to install a children’s playground and a calisthenics area, in addition to conditioning the access stairs to the Acapulco beach, which is next door, and having a small solarium.
The mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, announced at the opening of the El Bloque bathing area that some improvements can still be made to the environment, such as that the fuel tanks that cross the space can be painted with illustrations alluding to the area, “as the Refinery did with its own”, or the construction of a promenade “that connects all the bathing areas, from Los Charcos, passing through Acapulco and reaching El Bloque”. At the moment, the Valleseco coastline is beginning to take shape.
