SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 5 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The national spokesperson for Ciudadanos, Patricia Guasp, has criticized the rule announced by the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, for equal representation in decision-making centers and has warned that real equality “cannot be fixed with slogans”.
This was stated in statements to the media, following the fact that the President of the Government announced this Saturday that a bill for equal representation in decision-making centers will be approved in the next Council of Ministers that will force compliance with this quota for the formation of the Executive itself.
Patricia Guasp pointed out that from Ciudadanos they have always defended meritocracy and insisted that feminism and equal opportunities between men and women “cannot be fixed with quotas, but by betting on effective and efficient policies to achieve effective equality.”
Guasp acknowledged that there is a wage gap between men and women and that it is an issue in which “we must move forward”, but reiterated that this is done “not with slogans or behind a banner, but with efficient policies and measures, on all to end the maternity gap, which always penalizes women”.
