SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 4 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Citizen Participation and Diversity area of the Cabildo de Tenerife and the La Guancha City Council have held a meeting with older residents of the urban area of the municipality with the aim of gathering their main needs and leisure proposals.
The meeting, held at the ‘La Guancha Casco’ association for the elderly, was attended by the CEO of Citizen Participation and Diversity, Nauzet Gugliotta; the first deputy mayor and councilor for Social and Senior Services, Auxiliadora Marrero, and councilor María José García.
The CEO of the area has reiterated the Cabildo’s commitment to collaborate with the town halls to promote the active aging of older residents on the island, encourage their participation in community social life and enrich their free time with leisure activities that improve their physical and psychological well-being.
For her part, Auxiliadora Marrero pointed out that the municipality has received financial aid from the Cabildo of 19,560 euros to promote specific actions for the elderly, adjusted to their needs and demands. Among the most immediate activities, he announced the celebration of an excursion to different municipalities of the island, scheduled for March 18, in which about 130 older people will take part.
Said economic item has been awarded within the line of subsidies of one million euros that the Cabildo has distributed among the town halls of the island through the Conecta Mayores program of the Social Action area, to improve the well-being and quality of life of the older neighbors and neighbors in the respective territories.
