The Gran Coso Apotheosis of the Carnival of Granadilla de Abona will celebrate today its great party through the streets of the town, starting at 5:30 p.m., with the participation of comparsas, murgas and other groups from different parts of the Island.

The Carnival of the municipality, with the theme dedicated to the Carnivals of the World, will open its arena from Avenida Mencey de Abona, with murgas such as Los Retorciditos, the comparsas Kuliquitacas del Sur and Guajeiros.

The waste of rhythm, color and fantasy will continue along the main streets of the town in charge of the Cariocas, Bahía Bahitiare, Ritmo Sureño, and Los Playeritos comparsas; the Klandestinas murga, as well as different characters from the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The Hogar San Miguel will also participate, with the queen and the four ladies of Carnival in their floats.

The mayor of Fiestas, Eudita Mendoza, thanked the participants for their involvement and encouraged them to put on their costumes and enjoy these festivities. She also recalled that the best costumes from the Arena will be awarded in the individual, couple and group categories.

The show will end in the Los Hinojeros tent, where the winners will be announced and there will be a mask festival and performances by Sergio Aranda de Ráfaga, the Boys Machine Orchestra and the Los Ideales group. On the other hand, the queen’s election gala, which could not be held last night because of the rain, will take place tomorrow.

CANDELARIA

With the Gala El Gran Circo del Carnaval began on Thursday night the acts of Carnival in Candelaria. Around 500 people passed through the stage of the Plaza de la Patrona in which the protagonists were the collectives of the municipality.

After the dances were held last night, with the Corinthian Band orchestra and the performances of the Puerto Rican Edwin Rivera and the Sabrosa Orchestra, today it will be the turn of the Coso, at 6:00 p.m., and new dances, with Luis Deseda and the Acapulco orchestra, between others. Tomorrow, the last day of Carnival, the scheduled events are El Cosito, the parade of the Candelaria children’s centers, as well as the choreographic festival offered by Ensalitradas to conclude with the Daytime Carnival, starting at 2:00 p.m.
