SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 1 (EUROPA PRESS) –
National Police agents have arrested a 34-year-old man, with a police record, as the alleged perpetrator of five crimes of fraud committed in the north of the island of Tenerife, by posing as an intermediary for a popular foundation related to a park internationally known zoo located in Puerto de la Cruz.
The legal representative of the foundation denounced before the agents a fraudulent use of the name of the institution for the commission of criminal acts on the Internet.
The investigators confirmed that an individual, on online contact portals between individuals, offered to sell exotic animals and, fraudulently, used the name of the popular foundation, posing as an intermediary for it. Once he received the money from the alleged sale of the advertised animal, he would disappear without delivering it and without taking care of the victim of the scam.
The person investigated, who is accused of five crimes of fraud for a total value of more than 3,000 euros, was arrested by agents of the National Police and, after being heard in a statement, placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority. The investigators do not rule out new actions that lead to the appearance of more victims of events of this nature.
