The Department of Works and services of the Tacoronte City Hall has commissioned the preparation of an audit with the purpose of “clarifying and correcting the historical deficiencies that public lighting presents during the last decade”. The assignment of this diagnosis, which will be ready in three months, has been promoted by the councilor of the area, Antonio Gil Goya (NC)who points out that «after verifying on multiple occasions that the current concession model is neither beneficial nor the most appropriate for tacorontedue to its deficiencies and the lack of elements that solve the problems, I believe that the time has come to take the first steps to find a solution».
«Since my arrival I have been able to verify hundreds of deficiencies that they should have been resolved years ago, because despite the fact that the service specifications are ten years old next July, nobody has done anything,” he laments. Antonio Gil Goya.
In his opinion, “the poor state of the public lighting network is overwhelming. I have been trying to remedy it for a year and a half, but it is impossible because I do not have the necessary tools in the document. The Councilor for Works and Services assures that he does not want to “blame anyone for this situation, but to continue working.”

The councilor has pointed out that “At this time it is necessary to know what is the true state of the pipes, the manholes, the laying, the connections or the real number of lighting points». And he adds that “the company is not to blame for the conditions that were established, since it can undertake a change of luminaire or a lamppost, as well as the painting of a staff, but there are other actions that cannot be carried out, such as replacing the wiring, because the contract simply does not cover it».
Gil denounced that “At present there is unducted wiring that is laid on the ground and covered with concrete», to which are added «other irregularities such as the absence of a list of elements such as manholes and splices».
