SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 1 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The spokesman for the Parliamentary Group of Sí Podemos Canarias, Manuel Marrero, reaffirmed this Wednesday during the Debate on the state of nationality his “frontal” opposition to any type of corruption and has demanded the president of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, to clear “all kinds of doubt” about the so-called ‘Meditor case’, act “expeditiously” and apologize to the public.
Likewise, it has ordered the Government of the Canary Islands, of which Sí Podemos is a part, to take extreme measures to prevent cases of corruption in Public Administrations, to provide the means so that any official, without any fear of reprisals, can denounce actions irregularities, which must be investigated, and immediate and forceful action is taken, bringing any case of corruption to the attention of the justice system.
“Transparency, honesty and the correct use of public funds must be a rule of life for people who are dedicated to managing the public treasury,” remarked Manuel Marrero, who once again proposed the creation of an office anti-fraud, regulation of lobbies or prohibiting public contracts with fraudulent companies. “The public is untouchable and crystal pockets are required when managing the money that the citizenry as a whole has contributed with their taxes. Zero tolerance against corruption,” he added.
“THE BEST” GOVERNMENT.
The spokesman for the Parliamentary Group of Sí Podemos Canarias has affirmed that the Government of the Pact of Flowers has been “the best that the Canary Islands could have had in this situation of continuous crisis” and stressed that in the face of “the prophets of catastrophism and preachers of discouragement We have acted rigorously, promptly and conveying confidence and hope that Canarian society is capable of moving forward in solidarity, in the face of these vicissitudes, without leaving anyone behind”.
Manuel Marrero has taken stock of the main policies developed in the areas of government that Sí Podemos Canarias has managed. Thus, regarding the Ministry of Social Rights, Equality, Diversity and Youth, he stressed that in these four years the protection of people in vulnerable situations has increased “to historic levels”, which has meant that “there would never be so much in the Canary Islands people under the umbrella of social protection”.
In this sense, he explained that today there are 43,000 families protected with the Canary Islands Insertion Benefit (PCI) and the Minimum Vital Income (IMV), compared to the 5,600 that were four years ago, and advanced that the Citizenship Income will begin to be collected this March and recalled that it is endowed for this year 2023 with 100 million euros. However, he did want to apologize to all the dependent people who are still waiting for their resolution.
A GOVERNMENT “AT THE HEIGHT”.
On the other hand, Manuel Marrero said that the war in Ukraine, together with the scarcity of products from Europe, has brought with it insecurity and the increase in the cost of gas to produce energy, as well as galloping inflation. For this reason, he insisted that it is necessary to intervene from the public authorities, putting a cap on the price of food or agreeing on a 14.4% bonus for the basic shopping basket, through a direct discount as was already done with fuels. .
Finally, he made it clear that this government of the Canary Islands and the state government “have lived up to the social demands” and also “it has become evident that the right and the extreme right, Spanish and Canary Islands, have not pitched in to get out of this situation.”
“Faced with their proposals for cuts and privatization of the public, society has been able to verify that there are governments that guarantee essential public services, oppose cuts and privatizations, improve the supply of public housing for rent, legislate to put stop evictions, promote stable and quality employment, raise the SMI and, ultimately, legislate for the benefit of the social majority and the redistribution of wealth, resisting the loss of rights and recovering rights for citizens. It has become clear that whenever you want, you can”, he concluded.
