SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 28 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The spokesman for Ciudadanos (Cs) in the Parliament of the Canary Islands, Ricardo Fernández de la Puente, has asked the Socialist Party, during the Debate on the status of Canarian nationality, to support the investigation commission that his party has proposed on the ‘ case Mediator’ to “raise the rugs and take out the filth”.
Ricardo Fernández de la Puente has reiterated his conviction that those who carry out public activity must be “impeccable” and has ordered the Government of the Canary Islands to investigate this alleged plot, while highlighting the work of the officials of the Ministry of Agriculture , Livestock and Fisheries, who see their work “tarnished” by this type of case.
On the other hand, Fernández de la Puente has demanded that the Government of the Pact of Flowers, “for simple consistency”, adapt to the economic and social reality of the islands and that it be capable of assuming a “spirit of consensus” to achieve good use of public resources.
The spokesman for Ciudadanos stressed that the Government of the Canary Islands must promote a system that makes it possible to reduce the underground economy and tax fraud, and warned that an increase in tax figures such as those that the Executive is putting into practice ” They tend to be counterproductive.”
Regarding the economy, Ricardo Fernández de la Puente called for measures that promote economic promotion, the development of R&D and the creation and promotion of employment, but also support existing companies. And in relation to the Public Administration, he opted to promote a digitization process, administrative agility and the stability of public employment.
The Cs spokesman also referred to the management carried out during this legislature by the Ecological Transition Council and stated that there will be no future development without ecology or sustainability. In addition, he again warned that the Climate Change Law has aspects that can cause the loss of competitiveness of the real economy.
In turn, he advocated the promotion of road infrastructure and housing, while in terms of social affairs, he regretted that the levels of dependency have not been resolved during these four years, despite the fact that the Government of the Canary Islands has had more resources and with more means.
In health matters, he considered that the Government’s effort should have been focused on reinforcing the activity of the health system, promoting public health and health coordination, and regarding the Mascarillas case, he said that the presumption of innocence should prevail and let justice do his work and purge all criminal responsibilities, while demanding that the contracts made during the pandemic be made public.
Regarding tourism, industry and commerce, Ricardo Fernández de la Puente believes that these sectors must continue to be promoted to reduce the effects of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, as well as to pursue the “long-awaited” diversification of the islands. While he considered that although there is a lot of tourism, “it brings many questions for the future.”
Finally, he recognized that the Government of the Canary Islands has been “volunteering” but opined that it has lacked “certain management capacity” despite having had “the greatest resources in history and without the restrictions that others have had”. In short, Rodríguez de la Fuente reiterated that the Canarian Executive has been able to face the crisis with more resources, means and possibilities than there were in the 2008 crisis and wished that the general interest be sought by accepting “constructive criticism” and proposals of resolution that Cs is going to present.
