The Department of Sports of the City of The Village of San Nicolásdirected by José Miguel Valencia, has informed this Tuesday that the inscriptions to participate in the ‘VIII DH La Aldea’, which will be held in the municipality next Saturday, March 25, will open this Wednesday, March 1.
Registrations will be formalized through the portal www.ciclismocanario.es.
The competition, organized by the Town Hall of La Aldea de St nicolashas the collaboration of the Gran Canaria Island Cycling Federation and the Canary Islands Cycling Federation, and is a valid test for the island championship, so the presence of runners from the whole island, but also from other parts of the Archipelago such as Tenerife, Fuerteventura or La Palma.
In this edition, the bicycle downhill competition has the novelty that it will be held on Saturday afternoon and not Sunday morning as usual, since the requests of the participants have been taken into account, especially from other islands, which had problems coordinating transportation, which even led them to lose focus during the test.
The downhill race will have a route of approximately two kilometers in length, a section that has been described by specialists as “varied, demanding and spectacular”.
The start of the test will be from the Degollada area of tasarticrunning through El Lomo del Trigo and with a goal in the Cactualdea Park, where the area of organization, logistics, control and security of the test is located.
From 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. the withdrawal of numbers and the verification of the chip is scheduled. At 3:30 p.m. the first round will begin, and at 5:00 p.m. the second round. The awards ceremony will take place around 6:15 p.m. in the Plaza del Parque de Cactualdea.
In this regard, the Councilor for Sports of the Town Hall of La Aldea de San Nicolás, José Miguel Valencia, thanked Isaac Jiménez for his enormous involvement in making this event a reality, since “he devotes himself to all aspects, from design, conditioning and beaconing of the circuit, until mobilizing to encourage the rest of the runners to come to La Aldea and participate in the DH”.
