SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 27 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Nationalist Group in the Cabildo de Tenerife has warned this Monday that the corporation is located at “kilometer zero” of the ‘Mediator case’, for which reason it has demanded from the president, Pedro Martín, “forceful explanations”, given that it is ” sullying” the name and image of the institution.
This was announced at a press conference by the CC candidate for the Presidency, Rosa Dávila, and the insular spokesman, Carlos Alonso, who have stressed that their group is “prudent” when evaluating the case but demand that they be facilitate the contracts that could be affected by the plot and that the extraordinary plenary session be set to analyze the resignation of the former director of Sports, Ángel Pérez, linked to the mediator Antonio Navarro in a private cause.
Dávila and Alonso have appealed to “let justice work” but they hope that “political responsibilities” will be cleared up in the face of the alleged “most important corruption plot in recent years.” Citizens deserve answers,” they said.
The candidate has insisted that it is not a “private” matter to dismiss a political leader “who is in a plot” and that the case has become a “gangrene that does not stop” while Alonso has wondered “when” he had knowledge of the facts and if Pérez really resigned or was dismissed. “They thanked him for the services rendered,” she ironized.
He has admitted that the credibility of those investigated is “scarce” but has made it clear that in the court records there are “strong indications” that alleged corruption has led a retired Civil Guard general to preventive detention and 12 other people arrested. “The epicenter is in the Cabildo”, she has commented.
For this reason, it has demanded that the extraordinary plenary session be established so that the insular government can give “political explanations” and not continue applying its usual manual of “trying to sleep through complicated situations.”
DEBATE ON THE STATE OF THE ISLAND
The nationalists have commented that the ‘Debate on the State of the Island’ that is being held this Friday cannot be abstracted from the ‘Mediator case’ that has generated a “commotion” in the society of Tenerife and the Canary Islands.
Dávila has pointed out that the insular group is going to present a dozen resolution proposals in which it is going to influence the “suspense” of the Cabildo in social matters with “four failed years” for dependents, the elderly and vulnerable people.
He has also warned that the island has the worst indicators on the surgical waiting list, endoscopies or mental health consultations, especially for young people, since the Cabildo “is not there nor is it expected.”
Alonso has also detailed that the island “is worse in waste management” despite being awarded the new tender, there has been no progress in renewable energy nor is there a “mobility policy”.
He has criticized that the Puerto de la Cruz Tourist Rehabilitation Consortium has been “weakened”, without budget management or urban planning powers, and that the recovery of employment comes from the public sector, unlike Gran Canaria, where there has already been net growth . “The island is lagging behind in economic activity,” she pointed out.
