The weekend celebration of Carnival Pinata started yesterday with the Children’s Arena, one of the most endearing acts of the carnival programming, and which, from 6:00 p.m., toured the center of the capital; specifically, from the confluence between Numancia and Méndez Núñez streets, running to Villalba Hervás street.

A parade in which, as is tradition, hundreds of boys and girls from all the children’s groups of the Chicharrero Carnival participated, as well as the award-winning costumes, children’s centers and the batucadas of schoolchildren from the Virgen del Mar and Bethencourt y Molina schools, and all the little masks dressed in their best costumes who wanted to join in saying goodbye, in style, to Don Carnal for another year.

The public gathered along the sidewalks enjoyed the design of little Ione Díaz Serna, Children’s Queen of Carnival, who paraded with her court of honor, made up of the girls Paola Bello Navarro, Nayara Plasencia Mesa, Carla López Alonso and Iraya Hernandez Perez. They were accompanied by the murguitas and other children’s groups that make up the quarry of the chicharrera party.

Night out

The day continued, starting at 11:30 p.m., with a street party for the adult public. Thus, the stages of Francisco La Roche, La Candelaria and El Príncipe hosted the nightly dances, which lasted until five in the morning. Meanwhile, the popular Avenida de Anaga presented a lineup made up of DJ Wes, Eazy Brain, Kidd Quetto, DJ Vikingo, Fabi Boss and Ubay Hdez.

Likewise, in the Plaza del Príncipe, Tropicalia was developed, a multidisciplinary show among which were Laura Low, Sistah Vibes, Guacamayo Tropical, Tiraya, Candela, Parcero, Manatí and Frankawara. Puerto Rican singer Edwin Rivera offered his show on the Ron Barceló stage in Plaza de la Candelaria starting at midnight, where DJ Nicky also performed, together with the Tropin and Gomera orchestras.
