The Popular Party obtained the support of the Cabildo groups, with the opposition of the PSOEfor an external negotiator to unblock the conflict caused by the public transport strike, now limited to the tram after the conflict in the urban buses of Santa Cruz was resolved.
The candidate for the insular presidency, Lope Afonso, explains: “Thanks to the proposal, the Cabildo will return to the path of the necessary dialogue with the Metropolitan workers. We hope that the government has the democratic will to carry out the agreement.”
For his part, the counselor Manuel Fernandez values: «We do not understand the negative vote of the PSOE to this proposal –approved in the plenary Commission of Mobility–, whose sole purpose is to resolve the labor conflict».
Fernández was in charge of defending this initiative this Friday, aimed at solve the strike that started on the 17th and it is summoned until the end of May, motivated, fundamentally, by the demand for improvements in occupational safety ». Fernández recalls that the Popular Party proposed this measure during the past term “in the face of a similar circumstance and the result was a success.”
For his part, Lope Afonso demands “the role that the president of the Cabildo must play in this matter, from which he has been absent». He concludes: “This is yet another example of the lack of leadership that has characterized the insular government for the past four years.”
