The Arona Business Center has become a benchmark for business training throughout the South of Tenerifethanks to the ARN Innova agreements. Last year, specialized advice, webinars, virtual campus for entrepreneurship certification and numerous activities aimed at the entrepreneurial public were carried out, “with the aim of strengthening the business fabric of SMEs and self-employed individuals, directing their businesses with approaches aimed at success”, according to its promoters.
This space is key within the services offered by the City Council, together with the ARN Innova programme, to support entrepreneurship. It is in charge of the technical team of Emprende ULL through the agreement signed between the council and the University of La Laguna. Inaugurated in 2018, in these five years it has given advice to more than 2,340 people and has hosted 177 conferences and talks aimed at entrepreneurs.
The anniversary of this municipal resource, aimed at the creation of employmentcoincides with the lowest unemployment data in Arona in 15 years. The local government stresses that “the number of unemployed fell below 6,000 people in January, to 5,933. To find a comparable figure, one would have to go back to 2007, the year before the economic crisis. It must be taken into account that in the period from 2007 to 2023, the inhabitants of Arona have increased by more than 30,000 people, which means a notable increase in the active population and, therefore, in job seekers, despite which the number of unemployed has fallen remarkably».
