SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 23 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Society for the Promotion of People with Disabilities, Sinpromi, dependent on the Cabildo de Tenerife, has opened a new office in Puerto de la Cruz from which it will continue to provide services to people with disabilities in the north of the island “with the priority objective of facilitate their labor integration, as a key element for their development and autonomy”.
This was highlighted by the third vice president and counselor for Social Action, Marián Franquet, during the presentation, together with the mayor of Puerto de la Cruz, Marco González, of the new facilities, located on Avenida Melchor Luz in the northern municipality.
Specifically, it is an office with more space, where a team of five technicians have been working for a few months, including professionals from Sinpromi and the ‘Neighborhoods for Employment’ programme, who provide services to both people with disabilities and those companies and entities that want to participate in their labor integration.
Marián Franquet valued the work that is done from this office, which each year attends to an average of 220 people and promotes some 130 contracts.
“In the last five years, 210 companies in the north of the island have incorporated people with disabilities into their workforces, through the mediation of the Sinpromi office. Behind each of these contracts there is a name, a family and a life, as well as intense work by Sinpromi, which is home to highly qualified professionals who are involved in their work”, he pointed out.
Along the same lines, the counselor also highlighted “the role of the entities and companies that collaborate with Sinpromi to apply disability policies in the world of work and that are an example of corporate social responsibility”.
Likewise, he referred to the municipality of Puerto de la Cruz as “an important collaborator when it comes to developing new social policies that make it possible to delve into the decentralization of services,” says a note from the Cabildo.
LAND BALANCE
For his part, Marco González highlighted “the sensitivity and commitment of the current island government to guarantee territorial balance in the island’s social policies” and remarked that for Puerto de la Cruz “today is an important day because it allows us to continue taking steps towards a more inclusive society, hand in hand with Sinpromi”.
Sinpromi has been a pioneer entity in the development of programs to facilitate the access of people with disabilities to the ordinary job market, perfecting intermediation methodologies and influencing in particular, those people with special integration difficulties.
In the last two years, this objective has been reinforced and expanded with the incorporation of this island society to the ‘Neighborhoods for Employment Project’, financed by the Cabildo de Tenerife, which has the objective of promoting the employability of vulnerable groups.
In addition, Sinpromi carries out awareness actions aimed at companies, on the values of inclusion, solidarity and respect for diversity, as strategic management elements, which increase their value.
