The abandonment of furniture and electrical appliances in the streets of Santa Cruzon the part of the citizens, has become one of the main problems that the capital suffers in relation to its cleanliness. The incidents registered by the Property Collection Service of the City hall chicharrero have increased, going from the 3,452 that were treated in 2021 to the 4,018 that occurred last year.
The Councilor for Public Services, Carlos Tarife, of the PP, reports that, with the new Cleaning and Waste Ordinance of Santa Cruz, Penalties for depositing bulky rubbish on public roads can reach up to 2,000 euros.
Of the more than 4,000 incidents related to the abandonment of belongings that had to be attended to in 2022 by the Municipal Cleaning Service of the capital of Tenerife, which Valoriza is in charge of, the majority were registered in the Salud-La Salle District, with 1,546. In the Ofra-Costa Sur District, 1,067 were produced; in the Southwest, 768; in Anaga, 113, and in the Centro-Ifara District, 523.
The mayor explains that these are incidents that are sent to the service operator through several channels: by the auxiliary technicians of the Chicharrero Town Hall itself, by the application SC Improvement (in which citizens can communicate any problem to the City Council, including photographs), or by telephone. Tarife clarifies that these figures do not include requests for the removal of belongings made by telephone by users of the service.
This one also takes the opportunity to remind citizens who have a totally free bulky waste or belongings collection service. Through this service, household waste generated in homes, businesses or industries is collected which, due to its size, weight or special characteristics, cannot be collected by ordinary services or cannot be delivered to the mobile collection point established by the City Council.
For the collection of belongings, a day of the week has been assigned to each district of the municipality. For Anaga it is Monday; for Centro-Ifara, on Tuesday; for the Salud-La Salle District, on Wednesday; for Ofra-Costa Sur, on Thursday, and for the Southwest, on Friday. The mayor points out that, “to facilitate the correct planning of the collection service”, the user must contact Valoriza “before the day established for his district”, through the telephone 922 224849 or through a web form included in the link https://santacruzlimpia.es/recogida-de-enseres/.
“Waste must be deposited next to the containers closest to the user, between 10:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., the assigned day of the week and previously contacting the service management company. They will be deposited safely, always in an area accessible to municipal services and respecting the accessible pedestrian itinerary.
The collection is done during the day, starting at 7:00 a.m. In addition, adds the councilor, in the morning and afternoon, inspection routes are maintained for those bulky waste that could be deposited outside the planning in the rest of the districts. Also, “a review vehicle is available to deal with municipal incidents and calls from neighbors that may arise.”
The waste admitted in this free collection service of belongings are sofas, mattresses, doors, furniture, chairs, boxes and wooden slats, blinds, electrical appliances (washing machines and vacuum cleaners) and “other assimilable waste”, in a maximum of six elements. For large quantities, you must go to collection points or hire the service from an authorized manager. Neither will loose sheets of glass, rubble, toilets or similar objects be collected, “if works have been done in the home”. Refrigerators, refrigerators or air conditioning units with chlorofluorocarbon components “must be taken to the clean point to protect the environment.”
