SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 22 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The head of the Investigating Court Number 4 of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, María los Ángeles Lorenzo-Cáceres, has ordered this Wednesday the release on charges of former PSOE deputy José Bernardo Fuentes, implicated in the ‘Mediator case’, with “discrepancy absolute” with the thesis of the Prosecutor’s Office.
This is reflected in the order made public by the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands (TSJC) that points out that there is a “danger” of destruction of evidence given the political relations of Fuentes since 1994 and his “position” on the islands.
For this reason, he understands that his admission to prison and not his release was advisable, at least in the current phase of the investigation, but he cannot agree to it by legal imperative since there has been no request in this regard.
Fuentes is being investigated for the alleged crimes of criminal organization, money laundering, falsehood, bribery and influence peddling.
